Nubbins for New Year's

Hi, I am Lili Anne, and I am going to be an occasional guest blogger on Nail Soup. I share my love of all things lacquer with Pam, so I thought I'd say hello and Happy New Year.

Here's a cool shade from the Hunger Games Collection by China Glaze that's been on the market for about nine months but it's new to me as I just got it on clearance at one of my favorite beauty stores. Electrify is a nice glitter polish because it's not a complete glitter bomb but it has a pretty, shiny finish with a beautiful color payoff of gold and red. The picture here of my manicure is two coats of Electrify over a chocolate brown polish. Even when using a couple coats of top coat, the finish isn't completely smooth but it adds to the funky nature of the manicure.

As a New Year's Eve party mani, this shade is perfect as it reflects light and is very eye-catching. I can see it on the dance floor at a club or in the flicker of candlelight at a nice restaurant or dinner at home.

Electrify will continue to be a favorite of mine throughout the year as it quickly covers the nail in one to two thin coats, and it's gorgeous!

Happy New Year's ya'll. I hope you like my New Year's nubbins.

New House & Small Haul

We moved in and as I expected it totally destroyed my nails. I cut them all off and think that it’s either trauma or I might even have a fungus from the way the polish lifted on my ringer fingers that I left some length on and moisture got under, between the nail and the polish. We’ll see, so I might be taking some time off from blogging until things recover, I might still quickly swatch new polishes without top coat and no glitters, but they won’t be worn as manicures until I am sure my nails are all right.

Here’s some photos of the new house from the inside, it’s awesome living in our own place. Great location, and it’s a wonderful house. I think the insects are going to bother me though. Oh well, it’s just how it goes. Everything has trade-offs. We’ll have to measure the positives and negatives later. But for now we’re definitely in the honeymoon phase!

Here’s the polishes I picked up, Fifty-Four is the first Orly, then Love Each Other, Angel Eyes, and two from the newest collection, the first is It’s A Trap-Eze, and I got lucky, I snagged Sally’s last bottle of Dorothy Who, then last is Surreal Appeal.

I really love them all, but sadly I need to wait before I have a chance to use them. I will be taking a break from blogging for a little while as I am having some oral surgery in January and other things going on in real life preventing me from blogging for a little while. Thank you for reading and I wish you all Happy Holiday. As always happy polishing!

Layla Ocean Rush & The Closing Manicure!

For the house closing I wanted to wear a holo, but if you’re familiar with this polish, you know how chippy it is. It lasted two days, and I had to redo them. I was sad too that we hadn’t closed yet. Turned out to be Monday before we were able to close, BUT we DID close! We moved in on Tuesday and here it is Thursday, and I am so happy to say we are exhausted, but moved in! Everything is in chaos though except for my polishes! Hehehe, those made it over in the car and I moved them in personally.

My nail area isn’t set up yet, but it will be soon. I mean I could polish if I was motivated, but I am so tired still I just can’t. We got up after spending our first night here, at 4 AM. It was nuts! None of us could sleep! I want to get a little out of boxes before I show you the house. Trust me it’s awesome. I am so happy to be here! But back to my manicure, here’s a photo of Layla’s Ocean Rush:

Now I am sure you’re all wondering, if I didn’t have this on for the close what did I wear for it, right? Well I decided on China Glaze’s Gothic Lolita with Finger Paints Santa’s Magic of course! I am so in love with the magic that IS Santa’s Magic, I am considering buying another bottle from the Sally’s website, it’s fantastic polish! And it’s just like looking at little Christmas lights. I’ve included a blurred pic so you can see just how sparkly this polish can be.

Isn’t that amazing? I really love this one. I think it’s become my ultimate favorite new glitter polish. Well that’s it! Two manicures in one entry, lots of news and a fair number of photos, so until I can get things set up for next time, I wish you Happy Holidays and Happy Polishing!

New Tweed Halston III Makeup Bag

I went out yesterday and saw my favorite Thrift Store had 50% off purses and shoes written on their big outside chalkboard. Now I never can find shoes, because my foot is too wide, but I sometimes luck out on killer purses or makeup bags I can store polish in. So I decided to look around. I saw some great bags, but I already have a great purse I got from them. What I wanted was something to put a lot of polish in. Then I saw it. On the floor back in the back and I immediately sauntered over, as well as a person can casually saunter using a wheelchair.

It was marked at $6.00 and at first I sighed. I checked it, it was in great shape, and I decided I had to try to get it. My favorite worker was at the checkout and I took it up, no one else was in line yet, and I said, “I found this back there, it’s marked for $6.00, but with the sale on purses, I am wondering if you’d let it go for $3.00. If you will I’ll take it.” She thought about it, and I was sure she was about to say no, when she came back with, “Sure, it doesn’t really matter anyway. $3.00 it is.”

I’ve bought a lot of things from them, so I think that helped. She’s walked out a footstool to the car for me before and had one of the guys walk out a TV stand out that I bought. They’ve always got cheap shirts on sale too, and with how my son grew over the five years I’ve known about this store, I’ve bought a TON of those! So here is my new China Glaze storage solution:

In house news, we finally got our loan through its final approval and I am tickled to say that we’re supposed to be closing this week either Thursday or Friday and we’re set to move in, hopefully by next Tuesday. Because of this and needing to pack like crazy, I’ve cut all my nails down, rather than having one or more break on me.

I apologize for the bad photo, it's early and the sun's not out, so I took this from the kitchen. My nails do still have a touch of length, and it’s my hope they’ll regrow to my previous length quickly. So finally, I’ll be able to set up my garage nail station! I will be wearing Layla Ocean Rush for the closing if you were curious, and I will do a blog entry on that manicure later this week. For now that’s all, I wish you all very happy polishing!

China Glaze Seduce Me & Color Club Snow Flakes

I have a nice combination for you to check out today. I tried to take sunlight photos but they just did not look right, the better ones were the low light ones. So this China Glaze polish went on fantastically. I was very pleased that it was pretty opaque on the first coat, but I like two, so this is two. And the Color Club flakie, Snow Flakes, WOW! It woke this pretty crème’ right up! I didn’t get any before photos of the Seduce Me, another time and I will. Take a look at the photos:

I wish that my camera was capable of capturing this polish combination for you, but trust me it’s incredible, it goes from green, yellow and orange all in these lovely flakes. They are pretty densely packed in the polish too, I didn’t find myself needing to double dip to get more flakies out to put on areas that weren’t covered, because all areas got covered in the first and only pass. I was tickled by this manicure. It really glows, I hope you like it too. If you’re into flakies, you might want to go by Sally’s and snatch this one up if you’ve not grabbed it already.

I’m sorry I haven’t stamped in a while, but I am taking a little break from it until we’ve moved. We are days away from packing up and moving! So exciting! We should be closing on the house by next Friday, maybe even sooner. I am worried about moving my collection, but I’ll just take them over in the car and that’s just how it’s going to have to go down. I am eager to set up a nail station and share photos of it, it’s going to be in our new two car garage, but that’s okay, I can live with that. Okay, that’s all I’ve got for you today, I wish you happy polishing.

China Glaze Ruby Pumps

I bring you a classic, one of my favorite ever China Glazes and one that set off my urge to start collecting polishes. Of course I had others, but I really didn’t realize how many I would end up with a year and a half later. As far as using Ruby Pumps, I didn’t have to thin it at all. It’s great to work with, this is two coats, with Seche Vite as my top coat.

I must admit after having the Finger Paints glitter bomb, Santa’s Magic on for two manicures in a row I was having a little glitter withdrawals. I know, I know, it’s Ruby Pumps! But it just looks like a pretty red polish until you get it in the light or sunshine. I resisted the urge to layer some Santa’s Magic over it, and I am glad I did, it’s such a great polish on its own. I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving had a lovely holiday. I wish you happy polishing!

Revlon Dreamer & Finger Paints Santa’s Magic

I couldn’t get enough of that last manicure, I wore it just over a week too. So today when I was thinking about it, I held up the glitter next to Dance Baby from China Glaze and it just didn’t work for me, but the glitters blues reached out to me, which made me think that Dreamer would be perfect. I think it’s a great combination, reminding me of stars in the daytime sky. And with one coat of Seche Vite there is no grittiness to this manicure or the previous one.

Hope you like the photos, I had good results with the Revlon again, it was nice to work with, not too streaky on the first coat, and perfect by coat two. The Finger Paints glitter, Santa’s Magic, again, was one coat for this amount of coverage. Amazing polish, that’s all I can say. It’s wonderful. I was talking to my mother about this manicure earlier today as my nails were setting, and told her that I didn’t think I needed a backup bottle of this one, as “I have a lot of other glitters I love to use too.”

Because I couldn't get enough of this polish I made and uploaded a video of this polish in motion to youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p1_9l8MGLg

I don’t see myself stamping over this manicure either, so I am not sure when I’ll have another update. We’re packing and gearing up for moving into the new house, but we still don’t have a firm closing date yet. I took 1 mm of length off my nails this morning, just because of the preparations for moving. With Thanksgiving almost here, this is my Thanksgiving manicure.

I have other news too, my good friend from Makeup Alley and Facebook, will doing some guest posts for us on Nail Soup! She’s gotten numerous Ninja Polishes, and other brands I don’t have, that I am looking forward to seeing her swatches and reviews of those. So that’s it! I wish you happy polishing and a Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Finger Paints Santa’s Magic

I bring you a total glitterbomb of a manicure today. Underneath the incredible glitter polish, I have on China Glaze’s No Plain Jane. That one went on really well. I was very impressed with how pigmented it was, two coats, my usual, and it was fully opaque. Then I layered Finger Paints Santa’s Magic over it and WOW! So here’s the pic of the bottle, then my manicure and I have a video for you too. That’s how much I love this manicure:

It’s unlisted, so you have to go to the page and watch it there, but I hope you like it. I had a French manicure on for close to a week, that’s why I didn’t post for so long, and I used stickers because I didn’t own m19, the French tip plate from Konad. But I got so frustrated with how the white leaked under the sticky tabs I went ahead and ordered it. It arrived yesterday and I have to admit, I am not anxious to try it right away because of this current manicure that is like a disco ball, or blinking Christmas tree lights on my nails.

Except for some minor tip wear this manicure is in great shape. I used Seche Vite for the topcoat, and surprisingly this glitterbomb wasn’t gritty. I only like to do one layer of Seche Vite, and then layer on another topcoat later. On Day three I topcoated the manicure again, with NYC Grand Central Station to help extend it. We’ll see if I can make it until Monday.

Here’s a pic of the little Sally’s haul I did, I picked up Glitter All The Way, it’s literally like a Mardi Gras glitter, it’s perfect for that! Then I have Glistening Snow, WOW! It’s like Fairy Dust, but packed with extra glitter, and finally Finger Paints Santa’s magic. I originally passed on the Color Club Flakie, Snow Flakes, but then I had passer’s regret and went back the next day and picked up their last bottle. It’s a great little flakie, and not quite like Flashy, the Finger Paints flakie that I picked up earlier this year. I don’t have any photos of it yet, but trust me it’s pretty.

Well that’s it! Pretty long entry for today, I probably could have split it in two, but I figured it would be better to have one big entry then two short ones. I really am hoping that my silicone fingertip gripper polish removal technique works good for this manicure, I'll be sure to report back in my next entry. Take care and I wish you all happy polishing!

Nov. 8th No H8 Day

I fully support the movement among nail bloggers for eradicating hate and cyber bullying in our lovely nail polish loving community. Bullying is not funny, it is not right and it cannot be tolerated. I heard about this day being chosen this morning and luckily hadn’t already done a manicure for the weekend yet. Purple is the color that was chosen to show support for this cause and you probably already know about the image on my sidebar, as it’s being added to more and more blogs. Here is where I first addressed this issue a few days ago after the original incident and I didn't feel it was necessary to repost everything here, so I will expand on why I feel so strongly about bullying being wrong.

I was bullied in elementary school, because I stood up for a young student whose glasses were as thick as magnifying glasses when the others teased him, instead of just jumping on the bandwagon. There was another young man with red hair who pulled on my pony tails in 1st grade and onward would mock me, despite being mocked and made fun of himself. He was bullied, and tormented just like I and my friend with the glasses too, but he chose suicide at age 13 with a shotgun. Kids are cruel.

While I couldn’t bring myself to go to his viewing, yes they did one with a hood over his face, someone there pulled it off I heard. I just cannot believe how awful it was to hear that. I remember the guilt I felt because I had it in my power to do what I had with the other student, to befriend him. We both loved J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord Of The Rings Trilogy, but yet because of how he’d bothered me in elementary school. So as you might think, this holds a deeply rooted place in my heart to stand up to saying “This is wrong!”

We all love the joy nail polish is supposed to bring into our lives, and love sharing that joy with each other. It is my hope, that we will see this list below continue to grow over the next day as more bloggers find out about this. And next year, on November 8th, I’ll be doing another purple manicure in support of No H8 Day. I thank you for your support and want to thank every blogger on this list, you’re awesome for being part of this movement. Thank you for reading this and for your support, these bloggers listed below support No H8 too.

Revlon Dreamer With DRK – A

I really like the way this manicure turned out. When I was out with my mother this weekend we went by Walgreen’s, and they had Revlon on for Buy 1 get 1 50% off, so she wanted Copper Penny and I wanted Dreamer. She bought Dreamer for me and I couldn’t want to use it. It applied like butter, no streakiness at all by the second coat and you know me, I really am a two coat kind of girl. I used Seche Vite here and my usual Beauty Secrets Moisturizing Base Coat.

I decided on using my DRK – A plate today, and I think for the most part it came out great considering I was stamping outside in chilly weather. I think it looks pretty good considering I was shivering just a little bit.

Anyway, this is Sally Hansen’s Co-Bolt Blue from the Insta-Dri line. It stamped beautifully and I will definitely be using it again with Dreamer. I think the combination is striking and elegant, and I hope you like it too. As for news on things, we’ve had our closing date pushed back to almost the end of November, not sure if it’s going to happen at all, but we’re not giving up yet. So wish us luck! Thanks for stopping by and I wish you happy polishing!

No H8 in the Nail Blogger Community

You might have noticed the new image on my sidebar. You’ll probably be seeing more of it on other blogs, it was originated here and as other people have discussed the events leading up to my feeling the need to add this simple image to my sidebar, I think The Crumpet sums it up perfectly here, so if you’d like to read up on what I’m upset about you can check out her blog. It’s enough for me to say here that I do not approve of anyone trying to make other’s feel bad for not having perfect nails, or perfect cuticles.

In fact one of my mantra’s has been “There’s no such thing as a PERFECT manicure” so I am not as hard on myself about a smudge or ding anymore. I’ve realized you can end up messing up five good nails when trying to fix one or two messed up ones, and that just stinks. At any rate, I simply want to say here that I’ve made some statements on the Polishing Facebook groups I’m part of, about how upset this made me, and I stand by those comments. No one has the right to spread hate under the guise of humor. And if I didn’t speak up about it, I would feel as if I was silently condoning that hateful, bullying opinion of others.

Yes, it’s all about opinions, and whether we like it or admit it or not, words can and DO have the power to hurt. It’s not right, to cast a wide net, even if you say later that you’re trying to be funny, to say you only want to see good manicures, and that others who don’t live up to your unstated standards shouldn’t ‘share their efforts.’ That is hateful and in my opinion, bullies a lot of us out here in Nail Blogger land that aren't hurting people if we share manicures that aren't perfect. While I am sure this whole fiasco has upset a lot of nail bloggers, I am also sure it will prevent more from starting up then it will encourage or 'entertain.'

Now I understand the use of Black or Dark Humor, and to me? Again my opinion here, this person’s jabs were not Black or Dark humor, and that’s why I have made the comments I have elsewhere and here on my blog. I am PROUD to be part of this mostly loving and delightful community, but as with any place in the world online or in real life, it takes all kinds to make up a community. That’s not to say we shouldn’t speak up when we see something we have a problem with though. Stand up against hate groups. I feel sorry for the people who didn’t give it enough thought about the repercussions of being a part of this group I won’t name here, but I think that it’s only reasonable to think that many people would feel they were being slighted and would have their feelings hurt.

I will close with this, remember when a certain nail polish company stole blogger’s photos, removed the watermarks and put them on a display recently? Did we sit around and TAKE that? No, we stood up TOGETHER and got them to stop and admit their wrongdoing. I am proud of this community for doing that then and I am proud of it again for standing up against this hate group. We cannot allow people to sling hate around as humor, it opens a door to a dark place we definitely do not want to go. I thank you for your time in reading all of this and even if you just skipped to the bottom, hey, you all ROCK and I appreciate every one of you who’ve followed, commented or even just checked out Nail Soup in the year and a half I’ve been blogging. Feel free to leave a link to a No H8 entry on your blog in the comments, I look forward to seeing more blogger's thoughts on this subject. Thank you, and take care.

Color Club Beyond the Mistletoe Stamped

I bring you a color I’ve worn before, but this time I stamped over it. It’s Color Club’s Beyond the Mistletoe, a gorgeous blue glitter that my old camera failed to capture as did my new camera. It’s so sparkly it’s hard to capture. On my previous entry on this polish I applied it over Color Club Pure Energy, this time I just did two coats on its own. I think it worked out fine. However, I had to really, really thin it, I must have added 2 ml’s of thinner, seriously! And it was still rather thick, but not to the point it was unworkable. I was just careful to not overload the brush.

I used BM318 and two Sally Hansen Insta-Dri’s, one in Rapid Red, and the other in Mint Sprint. I did originally plan on only stamping the ring finger, which is why it’s the only one that’s off centered. But that’s how it goes, like I’ve said before and say to myself at times like that, “There’s no such thing as a perfect manicure,” which makes it easier to swallow having an imperfection or two in one. I will definitely be redoing this manicure, but over a different color, the Adventures In Stamping group on Facebook has a challenge this Sunday for Stamping over Glitter, and I can’t stamp on weekends with my son home.

I hope you like it, I really do, it sparkles in the sunshine like no one’s business and I now know the combo of the two Insta-Dri’s work great together! So mission accomplished! I want to thank all of you who have recently started following Nail Soup, I really appreciate it, I know I don’t have the best or biggest blog around, but I really do enjoy bringing different nail art and manicures to you, so a big huge “Thank you” to all the new followers and to all of you still following the blog, I don’t have any house news right now, but I’ll definitely post when I do. Thanks for checking out the blog and I wish you all happy polishing!

Special Tribute Manicure SIDS

One of my online friends, Silje of Foxy Mary’s World, has a dear real life friend who recently had a SIDS tragedy. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is a horrible silent killer of infant babies, with no warning signs. October is also SIDS Awareness month in addition to being Breast Cancer Awareness month. I tried to do this manicure last week, and failed, my Konad stamper just was unable to transfer the images, the wind we had from Hurricane Sandy made it next to impossible for me to stamp the two tone ribbon.

I was very pleased this time when my XL stamper gave me crisp clear images to use. I used BM321for the ribbons and stuck with all China Glazes for this manicure, except for the base and top coats. The lightest blue is Kinetic Candy, the pink is Dance Baby, and the other blue is Secret Periwinkle. I used Seche Vite over the base manicure, and NYC Grand Central Station over the stamping. I hope you like it. With so many people in the path of Sandy my thoughts and prayers go out to those in harm’s way. May you all get through this storm safely.

China Glaze Naked & Sinful Colors

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month I bring you this sweet manicure. I have the third set of Bundle Monster plates, but I didn’t want to use the ribbons, as I couldn’t nail a good combination of pinks, so I thought this new China Glaze, Naked, and the rose image off BM324 in white would work great. Which is what I've done, however this is three coats of Naked, and if you’ve followed my blog awhile, you know I really don’t like to do more than two coats. The formula was a little thinner than I would have liked. But not to the point that I will never wear this polish again. I used Seche Vite and had no issues with drying time.

And here it is with the Sinful Colors Snow Me White stamping over Naked. I thought this would be good and I am glad it came out as well as it did considering all the wind I had working against me outside. I used NYC Grand Central Station over the stamping and it worked out great I think.

I am going in tomorrow to have my yearly mammogram and wanted to have something special on my nails in tribute. I really hope you like this manicure, the next one I do might have Dance Baby, my favorite pink. It depends. I hope you liked this manicure like I do, and I wish you happy polishing.

China Glaze Want My Bawdy

I really like this color, very pretty on the nail. I would like to try stamping with it at some point. As for a regular manicure or polish change, it’s great. This is two coats, with Seche Vite, and then below it is Maybelline’s color show, in Bold Gold, stamping of the DRK A Web image.

My vision of this manicure was night sky with the web against it and light shimmering on the strands. I really like the way it came out.

I also picked up one of these at Sally’s today so I’d get in on this deal, Naked, the China Glaze that comes with this double pack, is one I don’t have yet and I really liked it, as well as the angel key chain. It was just over $8 and that’s like getting the China Glaze for free if you paid a couple bucks on the key chain.

I don’t have anything to update other then we’re still waiting to close on the house. Wish us luck! We were supposed to be moved in already by now. As it stands now it won’t be until after Halloween. Thank you for coming by my blog, happy polishing!

China Glaze Riveting With DRK-A Webs

I have a new favorite way to wear Riveting and this is it! I am really enjoying the contrast between the Sinful Colors Black on Black and the bright shimmery Riveting. I must say, this came out better than I had hoped for and I am very pleased. I wish I had a spider image, but on my Bundle Monster plates or my others, I just don’t, so I am thinking of possibly free handing one on my ring finger. But I am toying with the idea of trying to isolate one from the Bundle Monster French Tip plate, which has a lot of spiders. We’ll see. This first photograph is one from earlier this year, the sun wasn't out when I had finished my base manicure of Riveting.

I hope you like it as much as I do. I am definitely redoing this manicure the day or so before Halloween so I can give out the candy and make the kids “ooooo” & “ahhhh” at the cool nail polish job I’ve done. How are you wearing your nails for Halloween? If you’ve done a blog entry or a have a photograph online somewhere please feel free to link it in a comment as I’d love to see what you’re all doing for Halloween, happy polishing everyone!

Small Haul From Sally’s & Walgreen’s

If you haven’t heard yet, most Walgreen’s have their ‘Last Chance’ orange sale tags on the Sally Hansen’s Complete Salon Manicure polishes. After spending about fifteen minutes looking, I decided that I really only wanted two. So I picked them up, one of which I have wanted for a long time. Gilty Pleasure, so that was a great score. The other, Red Zin is a gorgeous red wine color that I couldn’t leave sitting there on the shelf. They were $1.99 at my Walgreen’s but they could be $1.89 at yours, so if you’ve wanted to try these, now is as good a time as any to do so.

Next, I missed out on the Sally’s 50% off clearance sale on these two China Glaze Bohemians, but I did manage to grab the two I was wanting for under $7 after the sale. Which is close to what I paid apiece for the other two I picked up when the collection was new. I picked up Want My Bawdy, and No Plain Jane. I also paid $5 for Seduce Me. I really liked each of these polishes and find I am much more selective in my buying of polishes now that I have a larger collection. I realize that Want My Bawdy is close to my Wet 'n Wild Fast Dry, Saved by the Blue, but it's not exactly the same, and it's a China Glaze polish, so I went ahead and bought it.

I want to let you all know that there is going to be another Sinful Colors sale at Walgreen’s (one of the $.99 sales that are so awesome) but I don’t think I need any more of them so I am pretty pleased with my Sinful Colors choices. If you’re looking to add a few or a lot of this brand to your collection, I have over 25, closer to 30 at this point, then look out for the sale starting on October 21st. Also today through next Saturday CVS has Wet n' Wild on sale for Buy One Get One Free! I just might swing by today and see what they've got left. Thanks for checking out my blog, I wish you all happy shopping and happy polishing!

Mahogany Magic and Bold Gold

I bring you a short story about this manicure today. My son did something one Sunday that was not cool. As you know he has autism, and he knew I wasn’t happy with him. He also knew he’d done something really wrong. Well that week at school, he saved up his behavior school bucks for their school store they set up to encourage the kids to do well managing their own behavior and he saved up behavior bucks for three days in order to ‘buy’ me this cool bracelet.

Its polished wooden beads with brass wire wrapped to make a lovely albeit bulky bracelet. I love it a lot and was inspired to do this manicure which gave me a chance to test out the new Maybelline Color Show polish I picked up in Bold Gold for stamping using my Drk A plate.

I am very excited they are making a C plate and plan on getting it for myself for my birthday. Hope you like this manicure, I really enjoyed it, Mahogany Magic was delightful to work with and the Color Show worked perfectly for the stamping. I am very impressed, so much so I picked up two more at Walmart last week. Thanks for coming by my blog and I hope you enjoyed this manicure. I have another great DRK A manicure for you coming up soon, until then, happy polishing.

New! DRK-C Plate Spoiler Image!

Breaking News! There is a new Drikk Plate, the DRK-C plate and I bring you the image straight off facebook posted moments ago:

This is right from Esmaltaradas Por Esmaltes’s Facebook page here. I am so excited about this plate! I just learned about it this afternoon and here the spoiler images are out! NinjaPolish will be carrying this plate soon and I am definitely going to grab one for my collection. What do you think of the new plate images? Thanks for checking out my blog and happy polishing!

Gothic Lotlita and Pure Ice Silver Mercedes

Today I bring you a short entry, I stamped this with Pure Ice’s Silver Mercedes and I must admit I find it comparable to Sally Hansen’s Silver Sweep in terms of usability for stamping. It was practically the same consistency, though I think my Silver Sweep was a tad thicker. I used Konad’s image plate m60 for this manicure. There was no sunshine when I was working on my nails, so I only have the one photograph.

I hope you like this manicure, it was fun to wear for a few days. I love the China Glaze formula as always it’s great to work with, and I think the Pure Ice worked great for stamping. If the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri’s bottle’s were not so awkward I’d go back to using Silver Sweep, but after my mishap with the brand new bottle breaking, I think Silver Mercedes fits the stamping bill just right. Thank you for checking out my blog and I wish you happy polishing.

Sinful Colors Hot, Hot, Heat Stamped

I picked this up during the $.99 sale Walgreen’s had recently and I was anxious to use it. Like the other Sinful Colors I’ve used I really do like their formula. It applies well and lasts well, I have no complaints. I stamped this with Bold Gold, Maybelline's Color Show Gold, wonderful for stamping! I don't have any of Hot Hot Heat on its own, I'm sorry, I wasn't able to get photographs of it, but here are two of it stamped with M57.

I also picked up a limited edited for Halloween Sinful Colors glitter, Pumpkin Spice, I looked in three different Walgreen’s before I found it in the third one. I think I actually let out a tiny “Whoop” of joy upon seeing there were two bottles left. I left one for someone else to enjoy and got mine for $.99 and left happily. I haven’t used it yet, but plan to soon and will report on it in a future entry. It's a pretty close dupe to China Glaze's Electrify, of the Hunger Games Collection.

Thank you for taking time to check out my blog, we’re still working on closing on the house, it’s been one thing after another, and I am still polishing my nails, but it’s really been difficult to get one manicure in during the course of a week. I do have some nice things coming up though, and as always, I wish you happy polishing!

Sinful Colors Soul Mate Stamped

I picked this pretty coral up during the recent $.99 sale, and I wanted to wear it with some contrasting stamping. I posted this manicure on the Facebook stamping group and got some great feedback. I wasn’t thrilled with the way the snakeskin stamping came out, but the people there mentioned double stamping with like a gray or a white even. I wish I had done that, next time I will try it. I love this base manicure color though, fabulous color and decent formula.

I used Sinful Colors Black on Black to stamp with and now that I have it in my mind to try some double stamping I might try it with my beloved leopard print image, m57, as well as BM215. Hope you like the way this manicure came out. I had a lot of trouble because of wind out back. Also worth noting, my XL stamper refused to transfer the image to itself from the image plate and I had to go back inside for my konad stamper. I had heard the XL’s didn’t work on the 2nd Bundle Monster set, but I didn’t believe it until it happened to me.

I will try to do a double or even triple stamping like the Adventures in Stamping ladies inspired me to want to try soon. We should be moved in by mid-October, so that will be fun, to set up my nail station in the garage. Then I won’t have wind as a factor to deal with, messing up my nail art anymore, or my manicures, like how it wrinkled my top coat (Poshe) on the pinky. That was maddening, but I just had to work fast. I can’t wait until I have a place near the side door in the new garage, with a radio set up the way I want it to be. I will post photos for sure. That’s it for now, I wish you all happy polishing.
