Nail Break!

With all the organizing and cleaning I’ve been up to preparing for the move this was bound to happen. I was opening a Rubbermaid storage tub and the lid snapped back along with two nails, I cut them all down and for once my right hand’s longer then my left. It was the ring fingernail and the middle finger nail, luckily right at the quick-line, and there was NO bleeding involved, but there was some peeling of the flesh there, I was very lucky!

So I decided to put on a nice vampy color, one that was untried and new this month, Orly’s Fowl Play. I love it! This is two coats and it was very easy to apply. I know my nails are a little uneven, but I can’t match the depth of them because the beds are a little different in lengths. And I like to leave a little so I can file them, instead of being just down to bare flesh like the two that broke are. Let me know what you think, should I try stamping on my new nubs? Do you want me to continue blogging or should I wait until they are a little longer? I am sure I can squeeze in one maybe two manicures a week, so if you, my readers, would like me to continue blogging during this nubbin’ stage, let me know.

No news on the home front, but no news is good news so far. I’ll keep you all updated as things happen. We’re hoping to be in the new place by July, but odds are it’s going to be August, and we’re fine with that too. Just as long as we can make it work. And I know we can! It’s not going to be easy but I have hope that this will be the last move I’ve ever got to make, into a place I’ll call home for the rest of my life with my family. Thanks for checking out my blog, let me know what you think of my nail situation and if you wouldn’t mind seeing nubby updates, and as always, happy polishing!

China Glaze Harvest Moon

I don’t know why I waited so long to try this polish out. It’s amazing! It’s so pretty, I really am impressed with how well it applied. This is two coats as I usually go with, and it was opaque with one, totally remarkable. It makes me wish I had a backup bottle of this polish! I don’t know that it stamps well, I might try it because it’s such a lovely copper shade; it just might work perfectly. I’ll test it sometime and report the results with photographs of course.

My picture doesn’t do this polish justice. I don’t think I’m going to be stamping for the moment, mainly because it will be much easier when we’ve moved and I can stamp in our new garage. I miss it, but it is part of the price of living in Florida, the nasty venomous bugs. Thanks for checking out Harvest Moon with me, it’s a fantastic polish, my new second favorite, with Riveting still holding the #1 slot! I have heard that the new Safari collection will be released in June, I am looking forward to that release. As always happy polishing!

L.A. Colors Metallic Purple

I have a Dollar Tree polish for you today, L.A. Colors Metallic Purple. I think it’s more pinkish then purple to be honest, but I love the color just the same. It was a dream to apply, no streaking or bubbling like I had on the Revlon Ocean Breeze manicure. I have one other L.A. Colors Metallic, it’s their blue one, which is teal in my mind’s eye. I haven’t tried that one yet, but I think that either would stamp well. I bought them with stamping in mind.

This is the longest I’ve let my nails grow to, and I know they will have to get cut down when moving time comes, but having them this long shows me I can do it. It’s very gratifying seeing them looking so well, I really credit it all to the biotin supplement that I am taking at 1000 mcg a day. I work hard to never forget it. And I use cuticle oil (you can use olive oil if you like, just as long as you use something it helps) once or twice a day if I think of it. I am sure the daily massaging of the oil into the skin around the nails helps keep them healthy and strong.

No news on the home front yet, we’re waiting and probably will be waiting for some weeks to come at the very least. I will update as soon as there’s news to share. I haven’t had time or motivation to stamp right now, we killed a SECOND black widow out back where I stamp so that has put a damper on my desire to stamp, out of fear of being absorbed in my work and not seeing one and getting the business end of its fangs. If only the acetone didn’t bother my son’s dad, then I would be able to stamp inside. Thank you for checking out my blog and I wish you happy polishing!

Update & Two Manicures

I am sure you’ve noticed it’s been a little while since my last entry, we’re looking at buying a home, a long term goal finally realized. And I’ve been very busy with that. I actually have two manicures for you today but no nail stamping. I haven’t had time. I am sure I’ll be cutting down my nails to a degree when we get to the stage where we’re packing and moving, but for right now they are still long. First up is one of the first China Glazes I ever purchased, Pink Voltage.

I love this color, but next time I’ll be wearing white underneath it. I am glad you can’t really see the visible nail line in the photograph but you could in real life. This is what I had on my nails when we went to make our offer on the house we want. It is such a great and bright color. One of my favorites to be sure, it was great to work with too, and this is three coats, it needed the third coat and like I mentioned it would have been better with white underneath it. Next up is Revlon Ocean Breeze. I am sorry to say I am not as pleased with it as I had hoped. I had chipping on the right hand the same day I applied it. And you can sort of see where it got a little smudged on my left pinky in the photograph below.

I will keep you all up to date on what’s up with our home buying adventure, but once we go into ‘Moving Mode’ I will be less active on the blog. It’s a great house, I wish I could share pictures, but I can’t. Maybe after we’re moved in I can show some photographs, we’ll see. If my DH says no pics I won’t be able to, so I’m not making any promises. Also I am on a total no buy for the moment, which stinks because the Bundle Monster set is due out and I won’t be able to grab it. But the good news is that we’ll be getting a house so I think I can live with that. *grin*

I want to thank you for the support of my blog, it’s been a lot of fun and I look forward to many years ahead, many awesome and fun stamped, marbled and other type manicures. So wish us luck that our offer is accepted. We’re in limbo on it, but I really want this place. I can tell you that it’s five years old and the bathroom and bedroom are set up like I have here. And that it’s basically perfect for us. It’s so cool, the bedroom I’d be in is already the baby blue I’d want it painted! So I leave you with that and thanks for your understanding while we are in this transition period. Happy polishing!

Konad M88 Plate Review

I am excited to bring to you this new Konad image plate M88, review. This was sent to me for review by Nail Polish Canada and can be purchased along with the other two new Konad plates here, which are also French tip image plates, M86, M87, & the one they were kind enough to send to me to review for you, M88. I used Konad Special Black polish and it stamped perfectly. My base manicure was done with 2 coats of China Glaze Riveting. This is the first time I’ve done French tip designs, I’d show you the first attempt but it was a definite fail. Here is the plate itself:

Here is the base manicure:

And here it is stamped:

I have to set forth with this disclaimer, it was windy as heck outside, if you’ve followed my blog you know I stamp out back on the porch. This plate is great, I had no trouble picking up a crisp, clean image when I used my Konad Special Black. I hope you like it. I will be doing more M88 French tips and M57 full zebra print as the accent nail on my ring finger. So look for those to be coming soon. A big t hank you to Nail Polish Canada for offering the plate to me for review. Happy Polishing!

Grape Juice and Silver Sweep on DRK-A

I decided to do silver spider webs on this manicure, and ring finger accent of the paw prints. I think I did pretty good considering it was windy out again. Grape Juice is so pretty, I was going to top it with Full Spectrum of the China Glaze Prismatic collection, but I decided it was so lovely on its own that I went without adding the glitterbomb. China Glaze has an outstanding formula, I really enjoy using their nail lacquer. It doesn’t always work well for water marbling, but as a base manicure for stamping it’s great.

I was surprised as how much I liked it, it reminded me of Spoiled Are Mermaids Real, but that is a darker purple in my opinion and it’s not a dupe for this polish. I really think the stamping makes it look really striking. I am glad I finally have the DRK-A plate, it’s not too difficult to use, and I’m already getting used to having to swipe the card across it and lift up the card before it gets the excess polish into the next design. Not too hard, but I still have to clean up the plate with a cotton pad after each stamping. I hope you  like this manicure. I used two coats of Grape Juice and it’s got great coverage, I didn’t think it needed a third coat.

It was bothering me so I went and pulled out Are Mermaids Real from Spoiled and took a photograph of it with the two polishes together, just to see how close they are and it turns out the only difference is that Are Mermaids Real has gold shimmer while the China Glaze has a silver shimmer. I thought that it was worth adding to this entry because it's so close as you can see from the photograph. Also I added Full Spectrum to my existing manicure. Hope you don't mind the edit and added photographs, it nagged at me after I'd posted so I thought it was worth adding.

Thank you for looking! I hope to bring you more stamping news as it comes! Happy polishing!

New Preview Images for DRK-B & Cheeky

I am really excited about this! If you have not seen them yet and are thinking of pre-ordering them, head over to Ninja Polish, they are taking pre-orders. I am just wanting to see the remaining images before I pre-order since I just got the DRK-A plate I wanted to share the preview images on the DRK-B plate that have been released.

Hope you like the images I am really excited about all these new stamping plates being released, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the new Cheeky 2012 set of 26 that are coming out in late May. Here is the first preview image:

And there you have it! Hope you are as excited about these new sets as I am. I’d love to hear what you think of them. So no manicure today to share, tomorrow I will have one though! Happy polishing!

DRK-A and New Bundle Monster Image

I bring you a new DRK-A design, on the China Glaze polish, Sunset Sail. Very nice color I think, it has a tiny glimmer of shimmer so it’s not technically a crème, which is what I had hoped it would be. But I like it just as much since the shimmer is barely noticeable. It was a little streaky to apply, but the second coat evened it all out. Unfortunately it was windy again today, but I was determined to stamp! Here is the base manicure, before I stamped, and then after stamping.

The latest news on Bundle Monster is they are getting into the stamping polish game! Very pleased to hear that. They released this latest image and I wanted to bring it to you hot off the facebook presses! Lucky for me I hadn’t posted this post yet! This is image BM-305 with a bunch of their new stamping polishes in the photo of the hand model. I am very excited about this and hope that they release the plates in May, it’s been so tough to wait on this release.

I am hopeful that the rest of the plates are just as cool, in a comment to someone they responded that there is indeed a puzzle piece image which is something I’ve been wanting see since I got into stamping. It will be perfect for Autism Awareness month next year. You can count on my bringing you the next sneak peeks, if they release a new one, I am betting it will be on Friday. Thank you for checking out my blog and I just took off the image verification, a huge thank you to the commenter Fingers, for mentioning that it was on, I could have sworn it was off, so thanks again Fingers and happy polishing!

My DRK-A Plate Arrived

I am so ecstatic! I purchased this from Ninja Polish and they are taking pre-orders on the second from this manufacturer, the DRK-B plate. I totally think it’s well worth the money because the designs are so large the cover my entire stamper! I didn’t know which one to stamp with first, but I finally settled on testing a few different ones. I hope you like the way it turned out. I have to say first that I was working with a lot of wind, so that’s why they don’t look as good as they will after this wind we’re having calms down. It’s been two days now and it’s just blowing hard.

I was desperate to stamp with this plate though, so I went ahead and did my best. I’d show you the other hand but it’s really bad, the polish kept drying and I am definitely redoing this tonight. I want a really calm evening tonight so I can stamp before bedtime. Hoping it will  cooperate and be calm, it was too late last night when I was ready to stamp and I was tired, which is why I bring this post to you now. I hope you like the photographs. The plate itself is beautiful to look at, I am really grateful to Ninja Polish for sending it in a perfectly sized mailer that I can store it in with my other plates in my stamping binder. Very cool. I used NYC Grand Central Station top coat over this nail art because it’s coming off tonight.

It stamps like a champ, I will do some testing when I have a chance and it’s not kicking up serious wind outside. I am really excited about this plate, it was hard to wait on it, but it arrived intact and in perfect shape. I can’t wait to see what they will do on this second, B plate, so far Ninja Polish is taking pre-orders and they have two lines of designs, but I want to see more before I commit to ordering it. Especially since Bundle Monster’s new 3rd set is due out at the end of May, so I want to make sure there’s room in my polishing budget.

I went to Sally’s today and picked up three more Orly’s, I got Foul Play, Luxe and Sapphire Silk, which was on clearance. I also picked up China Glaze’s White Cap for layering, and Sunset Sail, which I hope will be the perfect shade for me for mannequin hands. I’ll be doing a manicure of it soon, and then STAMP on it! It should look pretty good. I also picked up some French Manicure guides from Orly, they pack in 52 of them in the package, so it’s a pretty decent deal for under $4.00.

I hope you are having a good polish day, I filed my nails down, to be more of one length, the middle one is almost grown out from the last minor injury. The ring finger and my index ones are fast growers too so they both needed to lose a little length in order to match the middle finger. Are you planning on picking up this DRK-A or B plate?  I am certainly glad I did. As always, I wish you happy polishing!
