China Glaze Blue Year’s Eve

I picked this up on clearance a few months ago and haven’t tried it until now. I used one coat because I had an issue with application. It was my own mistake. I was polishing in the near dark, I should have turned the light on. This polish is great though, wearing like iron so far. I did my nails 3 days ago and it’s very pretty with the stamping I added.

Here’s the base manicure, the stamping I did using my Black XL stamper and WOW! It’s so awesome, very squishy! I fell in love with it after my first stamping on the pinky on the leftie. It was really easy to use and I didn’t end up smudging my right hand like I sometimes end up doing with my Konad stamper somehow. I got this at Ninja Polish, and I used BM318 for the stamping with my trusty Silver Sweep Sally Hansen Insta-Dri polish.

I hope you liked this manicure in both of its stages, I will be redoing them soon. I am too tired tonight, but we’ve been looking at houses and gearing up to make an offer on one, so hopefully this will work out well for us. Thank you for following my blog, I appreciate every person who leaves comments, follows the blog and every person who reads but doesn’t actively follow. I really love my nail polish hobby and am delighted so many others share in that joy. Happy polishing to you!

Small Sinful Colors Haul & XL Stamper

I picked up three new Sinful Colors polishes today, All About You, Star Fish and Snow Me White. I saw Star Fish and knew I had to have it. It’s a gorgeous dusty rose pink, and I have wanted this pretty gold glitter for layering, and the white for stamping, so I went ahead and got them along with Star Fish. I will most likely be wearing Star Fish as my next manicure. I am excited to say that my new XL stamper from Ninja Polish, arrived today too.

I held it up next to my konad stamper just for size comparison. I will use it soon with my DRK-A plate, not sure what design yet, but something cool. I love all the design images on that plate too. Sadly, there’s still no movement on the home front, not sure if we’re going to see this work out at this point or not. We’re not sure if it’s going to happen anymore, so if it doesn’t we’ll be getting a new car, so either way we’ve got good things down the road coming. I hope you’ve been able to find the blog now, I really needed to make the URL change, and should have done it years ago, again, my apologies to you for the inconvenience of having to locate the blog at the new URL. Thank you for all the support and I wish you happy polishing.

China Glaze Winterberry Stamped

I used Bundle Monster 319, man I love this image! It was done with Sally Hansen Silver Sweep Insta-Dri. I had trouble since it was so hot outside and windy, but I did okay. I am looking forward to getting my new black XL stamper from Ninja Polish, which you can get here for $10 shipped. Mine should be here Monday if all goes well. I can’t wait to try it too, but I wanted to do the stamping challenge for this week for Adventures In Stamping and it was for ‘Use your new favorite stamp’ and for me without a doubt it is BM319. Hard to believe that this manicure is almost a week old, amazing! Sorry for the  tip wear, but I didn’t have time to do a full manicure for the challenge.

I am really sorry for the trouble you must have had trying to find the blog, I should have posted a warning with the URL before I went ahead and did it. I am glad that it’s all set up though, because I know some people were having it blocked because of old domain. Thank you for sticking around and I wish you happy polishing!

Domain Name Change & New Look

I had for many years, but I kept finding some sites blocking my emails, because of the 'Cyber' part of the domain. So I decided to update the domain to something that would less likely be flagged as inappropriate. I hope everyone can find it okay now. I'm sorry, I should have given warning, but I kind of just got a wild hair up the backside and just DID it. No new pics yet, I still have Winter Berry on, and didn't stamp on it. I apologize for not giving some warning. But I am thrilled things are all working properly now. I decided to make the appearance more like my website main page, so I hope you like it. This is the way I really want the blog to look now, it is just the way I wish I had been able to make it look when I first started blogging. Thank you so much for sticking with me through the changes, I should be changing polish again soon, so until then, happy polishing!

Spotted at Dollar Tree NYC Duos

Thought this was newsworthy enough to warrant a second post in one morning. I picked up these four polishes, from left to right, Uptown, Downtown, then the blue one is Cashmere Crème, and Underground Purple, a nice duochrome. Pretty awesome finds at the Dollar Tree today, they had other colors, like one with two really, really dark, almost black greens. I can’t remember the name, but it’s really awesome to score four NYC’s for $2.00, I am very pleased.

Thanks again for checking out my blog, hope you manage to find some NYC’s in your local Dollar Tree’s, it’s a great deal in my opinion. Happy polishing!

Mayhem 2012 & Winter Berry, by China Glaze

This is a gorgeous deep red polish, after wearing it since last night I think I can say it's my new favorite red polish. I used two coats with Poshe top coat and think it is great, it applied easily and had a perfect consistency. It is such a pretty polish too, it was from the holiday collection last year, and I got it on clearance some months back, I had used it in water marbling but this is the first full manicure I’ve done with it. I hope you like it.

We went to a concert this Friday, the Mayhem Festival and I am still tired. That’s what I was wearing the Milani Blue Lightening with Spider Webbing for. I ended up breaking two nails over the course of the day, but that’s how it goes when you’re using your hands to wheel a chair all around the field and concert seating area. I am glad we went though it was awesome! Slipknot put on one heckuva show!

The other bands were great, Motorhead was really good, so was Slayer, and As I Lay Dying, they were awesome performers, but we came to see Slipknot, plain and simple. We had such a great, but exhausting time, it was unreal too, some of the people that were there. Check this photo out of the crowd, we had great seats too, we were right behind the pit in the FIRST row of reserved seating in the handicapped/accessible seating.

Thanks for checking out my blog, I hope you like the other things I mention about my life’s happenings, I like to bring you a little something different when the opportunity presents itself. And as always, I wish you some very happy polishing!

Milani Blue Lightening Stamped

This is a great manicure. I love the effect of the spider webs on the blue, but you really can’t see the blue much anymore. It’s still a great manicure, reminding me of a silvery spider web against the blue sky. I used my DRK-A Plate’s spider web image, and wow, is it incredible how great it is to use that plate. I mean really, it’s just awesome quality. I used Sally Hansen Silver Sweep, because I figured the whiteness of Konad Special White Polish would be overkill.

I am really enjoying this manicure, I used Poshe again after my stamping last night. As a heads up I wanted to let you all know that Ninja Polish sells a XL stamper you can get here and I have heard good things about it. You can see it in action here on a video talking about how to use it and getting the best results. I wanted to include it here because I will be getting one of these stampers, mainly because of how you can just sink your fingernail into it and it covers the entire nail without needing to roll it at all. I really like that.

I think the lady who made this video really did a fabulous job on it, she also has a video reviewing the DRK-A Plate, so if you want to see it in action you can, as she tests out some of the images. It works fine with my pink double ended Konad stamper too, so if that’s what you’ve got you’d still be all right unless you have really long nails, then the XL stamper might be a good idea. Right now I am on a no-buy so when we’ve moved and I can restart my polishing budget this is one of the things I will be buying for my stamping kit. Thanks for checking out Nail Soup, happy polishing!

Milani Blue Lightening

Wow, this is some serious blue glass fleck. It’s limited edition from earlier this year, I just picked it up at Walgreen’s on clearance for $2.49 and I was delighted! It has a subtle purple flash too. Immediately I thought of two Wet’n Wild Fast Dry polishes, Buffy the Violet Slayer and Saved by the Blue. If those were one ‘Blurple’ color this would be it. I really was drawn to this color the second I caught sight of it behind some other cosmetics.

I applied two coats, and one layer of Poshe Top Coat. I have plans that this manicure will fit perfectly into. And you can totally see how well the three rings my mother has passed on to me look with this incredible blue. One was a birthday present and the other two are my grandmother’s. She’s so nice to let me use Grandmother’s costume jewelry. It is so nice, I’d share a bunch of photographs, however I feel like it would be boring to anyone but me, so I’ll spare you. I hope you found the Blue Crabbin’ pictures and content entertaining, as far as news on the home front, still no movement. I wish I could say we had movement, but there’s just nothing to report yet.

I hope you liked this manicure so far, I really love how well this one came out. I will stamp spider webbing on my nails tomorrow from the DRK-A Plate, so I will do another entry with sun pictures hopefully by evening tomorrow. I just want to say how much I appreciate your comments and your interest in Nail Soup. Thank you, happy polishing!

Tuesday, July 10, 2012 Shellac Contest!

“To be fair, it’s actually only a 25 year supply, so we can only hope the winner dies early to keep me an honest woman”

- Nikki Smith, VP of Glitter, Nail Polish Canada.

CND Shellac is a cross between nail polish and gel which is cured under a UV lamp and lasts up to 14 days without chipping.

Chipped nails are an important issue that affect lives in many ways. “We’ve invented substantial research and the reason women slap or bite in a catfight is fear of chipping their nails. Hopefully, together, we can build a world where a woman can throw a punch at the bitch who kissed her boyfriend without worrying about chips” said Ms. Smith

The prize will go to whomever can show that their life will be most impacted by winning Shellac for life.
Be it better, or worse. Maybe it stops your polish addiction long enough that you can save money, go to school, become a doctor, go to Africa and start saving lives. Did we say that this contest saves lives? Now we did.

Or maybe you’re just looking for a little understanding, “My husband will finally understand that other people take polish as seriously as me...” - Sarah P.”

Or perhaps the result won’t be as positive, “I’ll probably spend all my time painting my nails, not go to work, get fired, now I’m homeless, damn you NPC.” - Beth C”

If you or a loved one is still stuck in a world of chips, smudges and wasting countless hours re-doing nails we urge you to take a stand. Enter at

Pure Energy Stamped

I bring you a Color Club polish, one of my favorites, Pure Energy. It’s a vibrant bright blue that is just beautiful on its own, but I think it’s really an incredible base for stamping. I used two coats, of Pure Energy and then one layer of Poshe as the top coat. I think it could have used a third coat, but I don’t like to do three coats as there’s more chance I’ll ding it and mess up the manicure.

Now for the stamping, I used plates from the 3rd Bundle Monster set, BM317 for the hearts on my ring fingernails with Sinful Color’s Black on Black, and then plate BM315 for the cool fishnet looking mesh with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri, in Silver Sweep. It’s not a perfect stamping by any means, but I’ve long since learned that there’s really no such thing as a perfect manicure. There’s always going to be a little room for improvement somewhere, but for what it is, I am really delighted by it. One of these days I’ll get around to stamping with that pretty bronze Insta-Dri I picked up from the Dollar Tree. Look for a new manicure soon and as always, I wish you happy polishing.

L.A. Colors Luscious Wine & BM318

I have a great manicure to share, the first stage was two coats of the gorgeous jelly by L.A. Colors, Luscious Wine, I really like it on its own, but the stamping is just the icing on the manicure cake. I used Seche Vite over top of the base manicure to give me a slick base for stamping over. I hope you like it. The polish was a good consistency and easy enough to work with, and honestly was close to being a one coater.

A local dollar store was closing and so I saw some polishes and grabbed three, for $.35 each! This Luscious Wine was one, and the first on the left below here is Rainbow Glitter, then on the other side of Luscious Wine is Pink Diamonds, which I think will be great for layering. I am tempted to use the Rainbow Glitter one on this manicure but won't. Hope you like these, they were really well when you remember to wear rubber/vinyl gloves when cleaning or doing dishes.

I am really pleased with how well the new plates stamp. It’s amazing how well each image I’ve worked with picks up and transfers like a dream. I used Sally Hansen Silver Sweep for stamping and Poshe for the top coat and it’s never let me down. I really love the way this polish stamps. I think it made for a really delicate and lovely floral manicure. Thanks for looking and happy polishing!
